Hot Air Balloon Festival 2015: Filling the Sky with Everything that Flies

While everyone was busy for Valentines, me and my sister were busy to go to Clark Airfield Pampanga. We have made plans since December last year so we were definitely excited about this trip. From February 12 to 15, Clark Airfield will be filled with everything that flies. It is the 19th Hot Air Balloon Festival.

We want to watch the Sunday event however we don’t want to wake up early to travel from Rizal to Pampanga so we decided to go to Clark on Saturday afternoon. We arrived at Clark at around 3PM and we went directly to our hotel. While unpacking our things at the hotel we agreed to go to Clark that afternoon to already buy the ticket for the Sunday event. We also want to know how we would reach the place tomorrow morning so we think it’s a good plan.

We went to the terminal of jeepney going to Clark. Going to Clark that afternoon was easy although there was bit traffic. We were also able to buy our ticket for tomorrow event. We saw group of paragliders in the sky. There are also some remote controlled airplanes putting up a show.

At around 4AM we headed to the terminal however the line for jeepney going to Clark was so long.  We took a tricycle that bought us at the entrance of Clark from there we had to walk to the entrance of the event which was a bit far.

There were definitely a lot of people in the place. Cars are having a hard time to find parking. Good thing even though with a lot of people we were able to find a good place to the event. The sun was starting to rise when the preparation for the inflation of the balloon began.

People started to took pictures while the balloons are being inflated and when it slowly taking form. While watching the inflation of the balloon, the sky was filled with paragliders with flag-designed parachutes. One paraglider went down holding the Philippine flag and the national anthem was played in the air.

A band was playing while the balloons started to fly and filled the morning sky.

The sky was filled from ordinary shaped hot air balloon to huge devil pig, farm house, puppy, grandma’s boot house and even a Vincent Van Gogh designed hot air balloon. You cannot stop yourself from saying “Wow!” everytime the balloon took its form and fly into the sky.

The Hot Air Balloon festival just gives a different feeling. Aside from the Hot Air Balloon show there are still different activities lined up for the day. There are also aircrafts and drift cars on displayed in the event. Although the trip was tiring it was worth it.
