A Day's Tour at Pearl Farm in Davao

A definite place to visit in Davao is Pearl Farm which is located in Samal Island. At first, I had some doubts in going to Pearl Farm because it is costly however when I checked some pictures in the internet I quickly said yes.

In the past, Pearl Farm is a cultivation for premium South Sea Pearls hence the name Pearl Farm. Now, its a luxurious resort that gives comfort and relaxation.

Getting to Pearl Farm is easy. From Manila, you just need to book a flight going to Davao. From Davao you may go to Pearl Farm Beach Resort's Davao Marina where a boat will take guests to the resort. Pearl Farm has its own boat to transfer guests to their resort from Davao and vice versa. There are four trips daily going to Pearl Farm.Guests may reserve the boats seats on their desired time and are advised to be at the Davao Marina 30 minutes before their departure time.

The Davao Marina can be considered as a small resort as it has its own swimming pool and bar. We even had some coffee at their bar while waiting for our boat. They also have lounges where guests can relax while waiting for the boat. For us, we took some picture and enjoyed the place.

The Bar at Davao Marina
The travel from Davao Marina to Pearl Farm takes about an hour. We were able to sleep in the boat during the travel.

The first thing that you'll see in Pearl Farrm from afar is their famous Parola Bar where the staff of the resort welcomes the guest. They serve refreshing drinks once you have reached the resort.

The beautiful infinity pool is just near the Parola Bar. It also very accessible to their Maranao Restaurants.

We immediately changed to our swimsuits and put sunscreen lotion then jump into the pool. There were only few guests that time so we have the pool all by ourselves. We placed our bags at a nearby chairs and tables near the poo.

We took some pictures before we started to tour the resort. Aside from the restaurant and the Parola Bar, Pearl Farm has a Spa, a basketball/tennis/badminton area, a gazebo, conference area and a Aqua sports center. Although the gazebo, conference area and the Aqua sports center is located to another island.

Pearl Farm has scheduled trips to bring guests to the other island. You will be bought to the island by a speed boat. The island has a long stretch of beach compared to the other part of the resort. We were unable to go around the island because of the extreme heat of the sun.

After going to the other island we had a buffet lunch at Maranao Restaurants. The food is mostly Filipino cuisine. They had a variety of seafoods. We had some crabs and shrimps aside from the common Filipino foods. They also offer different kind of fruits for dessert. Of course, the Durian is surely in the menu and the Pomelo fruit. They also have cakes and sweets. They even have a mini cake flavored Durian.

Below are some other pictures at Pearl Farm Resort. We only had a day trip but I bet it would be better to have at least an overnight stay in this resort. The resort is also a common place for weddings aside from conferences and company outings.

Burgers at Charlie's Grind and Grill

One of our favorite place to eat is at Kapitolyo, Pasig. The place is becoming famous because of the different restaurants. The amazing thing is the restaurants are all lined up in just one street that you can easily choose where you can eat.

Charlie's Grind and Grill or much commonly called as Charlie is one of our all time favorite. The restaurant which is located beside a car wash is famous for its big burgers.

All the while I thought the owner of the car wash and Charlie's is just one person. I learned that they are separated because the workers at the car wash would not let us park near their entrance. Since the restaurants at Kapitolyo are just near each other its really hard to get a decent parking. Traffic is also not that good. Our office is just at Pioneer and there are times that it will took us almost an hour just to get to Kapitolyo.

Anyways, Charlie's has been featured to different TV shows. It's becoming more famous and a lot of people are discovering Kapitolyo. Charlie's Grill and Grind can be like any other burger chain however Charlie's has a more relaxing ambiance. The place looks plain and simple. The menu of the place is written on a black board located above the cashier where you will place your order.

For persons with small appetite like me, Charlie's has the Wagyu Sliders. It's a small size Wagyu Burger with cheese, onions and pickles. Customers may choose to order just 1pc, 3pcs, 6pcs or 12 pcs of the Wagyu Sliders. They also have Black Angus Sliders.

My friend ordered Bacon Wagyu Cheeseburger. It's not that big but my friend really had a hard time eating it. She has to ask for a fork and knife to be able to eat it.

One of my friend ordered a Black Angus Burger. I thought my friend would have a Double Black Angus Burger but he said he will have to go meet some friend after our dinner so he just want to eat something light. But there's nothing light at Charlie's. Everything is heavy on the stomach even the Sliders.

Charlie's offers a variety of sauces to go with your Burger. I'm even not familiar with some of their sauces. Good thing we have a friend who studied Culinary Arts who explained to us the sauces.

Aside from Burgers, a must try at Charlie's is their Fries. Too bad, they have run out of Fries when we arrived as the place was really full that night. They also have Buffalo Wings, Sandwiches and even Cakes for desserts.

Burgers at Charlie's might seem to expensive because one burger may cost at around P300 however we are talking about Angus Beef. So a P300 or P400 Angus Burger at Charlie's is acceptable.
