The Fusion of Maki and Cup Cake

I'm not a fan of Maki moreover of Wasabi. However, just recently when I was looking for a sugar free cake for my friend's birthday I accidentally discover Kashi Maki. Its a beautifully crafted sweets that looks like a Maki but is overflowing with sweetness. The mastermind behind this sumptuous creation is Chef Anna Marin Chua. Their store is called Pink Wasabi which is located in Novaliches, Quezon City.

I was able to order a sugar free cake from Pink Wasabi which is flourless. It is made of dark chocolate which made it really good for diabetics. The cake has a bitter sweet taste and my friend recommends coffee as a perfect combination to the cake.

Aside from the cake I also ordered their very famous Kashi Maki. I was also able to influence my colleague to made an order. We were very intrigued on how they were able to make the Kashi Makis. The design of the Kashi Maki are very intricate and really needs attention to details.

There are eight flavors of the Kashi Maki. My personal favorite is the Midnight Mint. It is covered with cocoa powder and has a refereshing mint taste. Inside of it is overflowing of dark mint truflle. Aside from the Midnight Mint, I have also tried Cookie Kiss which for me is like black forest cake. The similarity to black forest is because of the cherry amidst the sweet chocolate taste.

A must try also is the Oolong Berry which has the very close resemblance to a Maki. This cake is rolled in a white chocolate with sweet round red jelly on top. This Kashi Maki is an almond cake with strawberry filing in the inside. The red jelly on top is their Stawberry Roe.

The White Matcha is a creamy white Belgian chocolate with green tea. Choco Loco is a chocolate cake covered with nuts. The inside of this Kashi Maki is homemade cashew nut paste mixed Belgian milk chocolate. The Coconut Dream, form its name is cake covered with coconut flakes with white chocolate ganache in the inside. The Marula Kashi Maki gives you a taste of the extic Marula fruit. It is made of Belgian milk chocolate infused of coffee and Amarula liquor. The exterior of the cake is wrapped in dark chocolate. The Lemony P is a pistachio cake filled with light lemon curd rolled in pistachios.
