A Trip to Kowloon's Walled City Park

Once upon a time there was a place in Kowloon in Hong Kong called the Walled City, which is ruled by organized crime syndicates known as Triads. It is a place where drug addicts, prostitutes and criminals live. It is popular for its brothel, gambling houses and opium den. However, not all residents of the Walled City are criminals. There are still those who lives peacefully before the demolition happened in 1992. The Walled City once, housed 50,000 residents living on high-rise buildings built with no help from any architect.

The Walled City that was barely shone by the light from the sun is now known as Kowloon Walled City Park. It is now a place where schools brought their children for educational trips and where photographers wait to capture a perfect shot of the birds that now inhabits in the park. It is an escape from the bustling shopping cities of Hong Kong.

Kowloon Walled City Park is divided into eight (8) different areas modelled on Jiangnan Gardens from Qing Dynasty. There are water features and different gardens. There is also a place where visitors can see photos and historical explanations of the Walled City.
